About the programme

Course Overview

A finance team that only closes the books and reports variance after the event has already missed the moment when a pricing decision, a product launch or a cost cut could have been shaped. Business partnering asks finance professionals to sit inside commercial conversations before the decision is made, bring investment appraisal and scenario analysis to the table, and challenge the assumptions behind a plan without owning the operational outcome themselves. This course covers the analytical tools of commercial decision support, including contribution margin analysis, investment appraisal using net present value and internal rate of return, and driver-based scenario modelling, alongside the influencing skills needed to get a sceptical sales or operations director to change course. Participants build a business case for a real commercial decision, practise presenting financial analysis to a non-financial audience, and develop a stakeholder map for embedding as a trusted partner inside an operational team rather than a reporting function that arrives after the fact.
